Domestic Violence is not just about physical abuse; it includes verbal, emotional, and economic abuse. If you are facing this, your immediate priority is SAFETY. The PWDV Act, 2005 empowers the Magistrate to grant you immediate relief.
1. The Protection Order (Section 18)
If you fear for your safety, we can file an application where the Magistrate orders the abuser to stay away from you. Any violation of this order is a criminal offense punishable with jail time.
2. The Residence Order (Section 19)
One of the biggest fears women have is “Where will I go?”
The law says you have a right to reside in the Shared Household. The Magistrate can restrain your in-laws or husband from throwing you out, even if the house is in their name.
